Differences Between the New and Previous Versions of the Standard

Compared with GB 8965.1-2009, the main technical changes are as follows:

1.The normative references, certain terms and definitions, technical requirements and performance indicators for stitch length, strength requirements for trouser back crotch seams and shoulder seams, number of test specimens for thermal stability and thermal protective performance, inspection rules, and marking and labeling requirements have been supplemented and revised. Meanwhile, the thermal stability test method specified in Appendix B of GB 8965.1-2009 has been revised and incorporated into Appendix A of this standard.
2.Technical requirements for knitted fabrics and garments have been added, including limits for decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes and odor requirements, physicochemical performance requirements for linings, test methods for fabric flame retardancy (GB/T 5455-2014), general requirements for seam strength, test methods and evaluation criteria for seam flame retardancy, and the use of manikin flash fire testing to evaluate the overall thermal protective performance of garments.
3.Class C flame-resistant protective clothing and its requirements have been removed, along with fabric bending length requirements and the protective performance test method specified in Appendix A of GB 8965.1-2009.
