IEC 60695-11-10 Standard Introduction
IEC 60695-11-10 is a standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It specifies small-scale laboratory test methods for comparing the burning behavior of materials used in electrical products.
The standard evaluates the flame-retardant performance of materials by exposing specimens in either vertical or horizontal orientations to a small flame ignition source with a nominal power output of 50 W.

IEC 60695-11-10 Scope of Application
IEC 60695-11-10 applies to solid materials and cellular plastics with an apparent density of not less than 250 kg/m³, determined according to ISO 845.
This standard does not apply to materials that shrink when exposed to flame but do not burn. For thin and flexible materials, the test method specified in ISO 9773 is recommended.
IEC 60695-11-10 Method A: Horizontal Test (HB)
The specimen is supported horizontally and tilted at an angle of 45°. Apply the flame to the end of the specimen for 30 seconds, or until the flame reaches the 25 mm (1 inch) mark.
If the specimen continues to burn after removal of the flame, record the burning time between the 25 mm and 100 mm marks. If the specimen stops burning before the flame reaches the 100 mm mark, record the burning time between these marks and the char length.
Three specimens shall be tested for each thickness.

Basis for Determination:
For specimens with a thickness between 3.0 mm and 12.5 mm (0.120–0.500 inches), the burning rate shall not exceed 40 mm/min (1.5 inches/min).
For specimens with a thickness less than 3.0 mm (0.120 inches), the burning rate shall not exceed 75 mm/min (3 inches/min).
The specimen shall stop burning before the flame reaches the 100 mm mark.
IEC 60695-11-10 Method B: Vertical Test (V-0, V-1, V-2)
The specimen is supported vertically, and a flame is applied to the lower end of the specimen. The flame is applied for 10 seconds and then removed. After the flame extinguishes, the flame is reapplied for another 10 seconds and then removed.
Two sets of specimens shall be tested, with each set conditioned under different conditions.

Basis for Determination:
According to the test conditions, materials may be classified into three levels: V-0, V-1, and V-2. The specific requirements are shown in the table below:
