IEC 60695-2-11 (GB 5169.11) Standard Introduction
In electrical equipment, overheating of metal components is one of the primary causes of fire. To ensure product safety, IEC 60695-2-11 (GB 5169.11) specifies test methods for finished electrical and electronic products. These methods evaluate fire risks by simulating thermal stress caused by electrical heat sources.
This test procedure not only assesses the ignition resistance of products but also helps manufacturers improve product designs and reduce potential fire hazards. Compliance with this standard enhances the safety and reliability of electrical equipment, protecting users and devices from fire risks.

IEC 60695-2-11 (GB 5169.11) Scope of Application
This test method is used to evaluate the ignition resistance of finished electrical and electronic products when exposed to an electric heat source under specified conditions, as well as their resistance to flame spread after ignition.

IEC 60695-2-11 (GB 5169.11) Test Method

The finished test specimen is installed according to the specified procedure. A glow wire is applied to the surface of the specimen to simulate thermal stress that may occur during normal use.
The glow-wire test is conducted under standardized conditions: the glow wire is heated to 550 °C (or an appropriate temperature selected from Table 1 below) and applied to the specimen for 30 seconds.
During the test, the flame duration, flame height, and occurrence of burning droplets on the filter paper shall be carefully observed and recorded.

IEC 60695-2-11 (GB 5169.11) Basis for determination
If the test specimen meets the following conditions at the test temperature T °C, it is considered to have passed the Glow-Wire Flammability Test (GWEPT) at T °C:
a) No ignition occurs; or
b) Ignition occurs, and both of the following conditions are met:
- The flame or glowing combustion of the specimen extinguishes within 30 seconds after removal of the glow wire;
- The underlying layer beneath the specimen does not ignite.
