ISTA 6 – Amazon – Overboxing Test Method

Over boxing It refers to placing the product into an Amazon box. (Amazon Box) the process. Amazon boxes are also referred to as master shipping cartons. (Master shipping Box) . To evaluate the performance of primary packaging in protecting its internal contents, Amazon has developed ISTA 6-Amazon.com-Over Boxing This is the transportation test.
This packaging test standard is specifically designed for certain products sold through e‑commerce channels; during overpacking, Amazon.com Products are often placed into larger shipping containers. The product may be used alone or together with other retail-packaged items in the same container. Padding is typically used to provide cushioning; common materials include air cushions or kraft paper.
Over-Box The purpose of the testing is to evaluate the protective performance of product packaging. Packages will undergo tests involving vibration, impact, and other forms of stress commonly encountered during transportation to the customer. During testing, the product remains inside the package and is treated as a single unit together with its primary shipping container.
According to Amazon’s requirements, if the longest dimension of the product packaging is less than 6 Inches or the shorter side is less than 4 inches or less than the shortest side 0.375 Inches, then this product needs to be according to Over boxing Conduct testing.
Products that pass the tests in the sequence listed in the table below may be eligible for Amazon. Over boxing Qualifications (Amazon Over Boxing) 。
