Climate Pledge Friendly Amazon Climate-Friendly Commitment Program

One effective way to show Amazon customers that you are an environmentally conscious brand is to participate in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly program. Climate Pledge Friendly is a new program launched by Amazon that uses sustainability certifications to highlight products that are making efforts to help protect the natural environment. Brands can participate in this program and obtain a Climate Pledge Friendly badge for their products by ensuring that the products they sell on Amazon are certified in at least one aspect of sustainability.

Why Should You Participate in the Climate Pledge Friendly Program?

Amazon does not charge any fees for eligible products to participate in Climate Pledge Friendly. You can gain additional sales benefits at no cost. Many consumers want to shop in a more sustainable way and purchase environmentally friendly products. Climate Pledge Friendly helps these customers conveniently discover and purchase Climate Pledge Friendly products. Eligible products will be marked in shopping results and on product pages, and will also be displayed in a dedicated section of the website. As shown below, the Climate Pledge Friendly badge will appear on the product page.

By clicking into the badge, customers can view the specific product certifications. For example, this product has obtained FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) certification.

History Behind the Climate Pledge Friendly Initiative

Amazon launched the Climate Pledge Friendly program in 2020 to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. When the program started, there were approximately 25,000 Climate Pledge Friendly products. Today, there are more than 75,000 products carrying the Climate Pledge Friendly label on Amazon. The Climate Pledge Friendly program is part of Amazon’s larger initiative, The Climate Pledge. In 2019, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge. This pledge represents a commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, meaning Amazon plans to eliminate carbon emissions as much as possible and offset any remaining emissions to achieve its goal.

Benefits of the Climate Pledge Friendly Badge

Climate Pledge Friendly products rank higher in Amazon search results. Therefore, early adoption is important. The earlier a product obtains certification, the higher its ranking may be in the long term. It can be considered another form of search engine optimization (SEO).

In addition, sustainability and green marketing are currently strong trends. Consider the following statistics from NielsenIG:

    ● In 2018, 48% of US. consumers stated that they would definitely or possibly change their consumption habits to reduce their environmental impact.

    ● Since 2014, sustainable product sales have grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.5%.

    ● By 2021, the sustainable fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market was expected to grow to USD 150 billion.

There is no doubt that the consumer market for sustainable products is growing, and it is expected to become even larger. By creating and marketing your environmentally friendly products, you can build and maintain brand value through evidence. Instead of simply telling consumers that you want to support environmental protection, you can demonstrate it through recognized certifications.
