    Almost every country worldwide regulates the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronic products sold within its territory. In the United States, EMC is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). According to CFR Title 47, all electronic products entering the U.S. market must undergo electromagnetic compatibility certification, namely FCC certification, which applies to all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

     

     
     

    FCC Origin

    The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for regulating communications through radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable across the United States. FCC certification is a mandatory certification required for products entering the U.S. market. FCC EMC requirements focus only on EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) and do not include EMS (Electromagnetic Susceptibility) requirements. FCC EMC testing mainly covers radiated emissions and conducted emissions.

     

     
     

    FCC Certification Categories

    FCC certification methods are divided into two categories based on the type of electronic product:

    ◉ FCC SDoC (Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity): Applicable to standard products without wireless functionality. (The original DOC and Verification procedures were consolidated into SDoC in 2017.)

    ◉ FCC ID (Certification): Applicable to products with wireless functionality.

    Test / Certification process

    According to the standard testing procedure, once the testing agency completes the tests and issues the test report, the project is considered concluded.

    After the test report is completed, submit it to TCB Issued by the institution ID Certificate

    Note: TCB is an abbreviation for Telecommunication Certification Bodies (Telecommunications Certification Authority), an organization authorized to issue certificates that comply with Federal Communications Commission regulations.

    Such as displays, household appliances, lighting products, information technology equipment such as computers, electric tools, audio and video products, toys, security products, general access control devices, cordless phones, television receiving equipment, etc.

    Engineering, science, and medical electronic products (ISM)

    FCC Part 18

    Industrial heating equipment: ISM equipment used for or associated with industrial heating operations in manufacturing or production processes (such as radio-frequency welders and radio-frequency lighting equipment).

    Medical diathermy equipment: ISM equipment used for therapeutic purposes, excluding surgical diathermy devices designed for low-power intermittent operation.

    Ultrasonic equipment: Devices that use radio-frequency energy to excite or drive electromechanical transducers, generating acoustic or ultrasonic mechanical energy for industrial, scientific, medical, or other non-communication applications.

    Consumer ISM equipment: ISM devices used by the public in residential environments, such as household microwave ovens, jewelry cleaners, and ultrasonic humidifiers.

    Magnetic resonance equipment: Systems that use radio-frequency energy to generate images and data representing the spatially resolved distribution of transient atomic nuclei within an object.
