Make it Safe is an initiative launched by the British Blind and Shutter Association (BBSA), aimed at promoting window covering safety in all homes, public buildings, and other environments where infants and young children may be present.
Blinds are an increasingly popular form of window decoration, with almost unlimited possibilities in design, style, finish, and operation methods. All blinds manufactured and sold after February 2014 must comply with specific child safety requirements (BS EN 13120).
Some existing blinds installed before February 2014 may have operating cords or chains, which can pose a serious risk to infants and young children if they are within reach. Making existing blinds safer can be achieved through quick, inexpensive, and simple methods.

What should you consider when purchasing new blinds?
Blinds can be used without cords or chains that form loops, or with safety-compliant devices. The following are some examples:
1.Wand-operated vertical blinds: Rotate the wand to adjust the slats, and use the wand to draw the blinds to one side for opening.
2.Roller blinds with enclosed clutch systems: Raise or lower the blind by pulling the control device.
3.Motorized blinds: Operated via buttons on a control rod beside the blind to raise or lower it.
4.Wand-operated horizontal blinds: Rotate a metal wand to open and close the slats, and slide the control on the wand to raise or lower the blind.
5.Cordless push-pull blinds: Raise and lower the blind through simple pushing and pulling.
6.Traditional non-lift blinds: Adjust the slats manually to open or close without lifting functionality.
7.Crank-operated blinds: Raise and lower the blind by turning a crank.
8.Motorized remote-controlled blinds: Operated via remote control to open, close, and raise or lower the blinds (applicable to different blind types).
