    ISO 7174-1:1988 Furniture - Chairs - Determination of stability - Part 1: Upright chairs and stools

    ISO 7174-1 describes a method for determining the stability of all types of upright chairs, stools, and upholstered seating.

    ISO 7174-1 is not applicable to chaise longues or other multi-seat furniture, reclining chairs, chairs with tilt mechanisms when reclined, or swivel and rocking chairs.However, when these chairs are used in an upright position, the test methods are suitable for chairs equipped with tilt, reclining, and adjustable backrest angle mechanisms.

     

    ISO 7174-2:1992 Furniture - Chairs - Determination of stability - Part 2: Chairs with tilting or reclining mechanisms when fully reclined and rocking chairs

    ISO 7174-2 describes a method for determining the rearward stability of seats and rocking chairs when fully reclined or tilted, using mechanisms that allow adjustment of the tilt and backrest angle.The forward and lateral stability of these chairs, as well as upright chairs, shall be determined according to the method described in ISO 7174-1.

    ISO 7174-2 specifies that the rearward stability test method for fully reclined or tilted seats shall not be considered a substitute for the upright seating position stability test.

     

    ISO 7173: 1989 Furniture - Chairs and Stools - Determination of Strength and Durability

    ISO 7173 describes test methods for determining the strength and durability of all types of chairs, armchairs, and stools.

    Certain types of chairs and chairs intended for specific applications may require additional testing.

    ISO 7173 does not include evaluations of ageing and degradation.

    ISO 7173 is not intended to evaluate the durability of filling materials, upholstery fabrics, or foam padding.

    ISO 7173 does not include tests for inclined or tilted seats, including seats tested in reclined or tilted positions.

    The forces and dimensions used in the tests apply to adult chairs and stools.

     

    ISO 7170: 2021COR 2022 Furniture Storage units Determination of strength and durability

    ISO 7170 specifies test methods for determining the strength and durability of fully assembled storage units ready for use, including both active and inactive components.

    The tests include applying simulated loads, forces, and speeds to each component of the storage unit under normal operating conditions and reasonably foreseeable misuse scenarios.

     

    ISO 21015:2007 Office furniture - Office work chairs - Test methods for the determination of stability strength and durability

    ISO 21015 specifies test methods for determining the stability, strength, and durability of office chairs, as well as guidance for selecting appropriate test parameters, including forces and cycle numbers.

     

    BS ISO 21016:2007 Office furniture - Tables and desks - Test method for the determination of stability strict th and durability 

    BS ISO 21016 specifies test methods for determining the stability, strength, and durability of all types of office desks designed for seated and/or standing use, including work desks, height-adjustable desks, conference tables, and office desks.It applies to tables that are fully assembled and ready for use.

    BS ISO 21016 does not include test methods for storage components, which can be found in ISO 7170.

     

    ISO 7171:2019 Stability- storage unit Stability of storage furniture

    ISO 7171 describes a method for determining the stability of fully assembled freestanding storage units ready for use, including cabinets, cupboards, and bookshelves.

    ISO 7171 is not applicable to wall-mounted or other built-in storage units.
