    Testing and Evaluation

The flame‑retardant performance of plastic materials in electrical and electronic equipment is typically assessed using the UL 94 standard for the flammability of plastic materials used in components of appliances and devices. This standard evaluates a material’s ability to self‑extinguish after ignition. Ratings are assigned based on criteria such as burning rate, burn time, the formation of molten droplets, and whether those droplets continue to burn.
